Der Zürcher Komponist Ernst Hess (1912-1968) war Dozent für Theorie am Konservatorium Winterthur (heute: ZHdK) und ein führender Mozart-Experte des 20. Jahrhunderts. Anhand des in Winterthur aufbewahrten einzig erhaltenen Autographs des Klarinettenkonzerts von Mozart gelang ihm die Rekonstruktion der Urfassung für Bassettklarinette. Das vorliegende Adagio KV 580a ist nur als Fragment überliefert. Nach 28 Takten hat Mozart von der Durchführung bis zum Schluss nur noch die Melodiestimme aufgezeichnet. Ernst Hess hat 1959 die fehlenden Stimmen meisterhaft ergänzt.
Franz Tischhauser (*1921) komponierte sein Quartett 'Das Vierklaklavier' 1984. Mit wahrhaftem Galgenhumor veräppelt er mit kunstvoll eingeflochtenen Zitaten u. a. Richard Strauss' "Till Eulenspiegels lustige Streiche".
