      • Project Circleg ist die Bachelorthesis von Fabian Engel und Simon Oschwald in der Vertiefung Industrial Design. Das Projekt befasst sich mit der Entwicklung und Gestaltung einer low-cost Beinprothese aus rezyklierten Kunststoffabfällen für Menschen in Schwellen- und Entwicklungsländern. Diese Thematik verbindet zwei Bereiche, die eine ökologische sowie soziale Relevanz aufweisen. Einerseits landet eine grosse Menge an Kunststoffabfällen auf Deponien in Schwellen- und Entwicklungsländern, andererseits besteht weltweit eine hohe Nachfrage an günstigen Beinprothesen. Project Circleg will die Kunststoffabfälle als Ressource nutzen, um einen Beitrag an diese Nachfrage zu leisten.

      • “Project Circleg” is the Bachelor’s thesis of Fabian Engel and Simon Oschwald, specializing in Industrial Design. The project is concerned with developing and creating a low-cost leg prosthesis from recycled plastic waste for people in developing and emerging countries. This issue combines two areas that are relevant from both an environmental and social perspective. Not only does a large quantity of plastic waste end up at landfill sites in emerging and developing countries, but there is also a high global demand for affordable leg prostheses. Project Circleg aims to make use of plastic waste as a resource to help satisfy this demand.

                  • Die Nachfrage nach günstigen Beinprothesen in Kenia ist gross, doch fehlte bis anhin ein zufriedenstellendes low-cost Prothesensystem. Die Beinprothese Circleg schliesst diese Lücke. Durch die Verwendung von rezyklierten Kunststoffabfällen in Kombination mit vor Ort bestehenden Produktionsmethoden kann die Beinprothese lokal und kostengünstig hergestellt werden. Der modulare Aufbau ermöglicht das einfache Austauschen und Reparieren verbrauchter Passteile sowie die individuelle Anpassung an den Benutzer. Die Mobilität der Betroffenen im Alltag wird somit erheblich gesteigert.
