Mit dem neuen Videospiel „America’s Army: Operations“ wirbt das amerikanische Pentagon um Nachwuchs fürs Militär. Zum Preis von sieben Millionen Dollar ließ das Pentagon das Online-Projekt „America’s Army: Operations“ entwickeln. „Wir hoffen, mit diesem Spiel junge Amerikaner schulen zu können, und präsentieren ihnen eine realistische Perspektive einer modernen Armee.“ Das Projekt befasst sich mit den Schnittstellen zwischen Gesellschaft und Krieg/Armee im Medienzeitalter. Kriege verändern sich mit ihrer Umwelt. Das Bild des Soldaten ist momentan in einem extremen Wandel vom Kollektivmitglied zum Individualisten. In einer spielerischen Installation werden Ausstellungsbesucher zum FAX ARMY SOLDIER rekrutiert und einer digitalen Einheit zugeteilt. So wird eine virtuelle Armee aufgebaut.
