- BIOGRAPHY
My name is Marie da Silva and I was born and raised in the south of Germany.
Growing up in a small city surrounded by a loving and supporting family I found myself thriving in arts and especially dance.
After graduating school I started studying Contemporary Dance at the ZHdK in 2020 and got the chance to get to know myself and my moving body better.
Currently I am interning with the MN Dance Company under the direction of Natja Bremec and Michal Rynia.
This step wasn’t only a step towards independence but also confirmed my strong will to make it in this industry.
DIPLOMAPROJECT
Chiaroscuro is an artistic technique that uses strong contrast between light and dark to create a sense of volume and three dimensionality often found in portraits and still lifes of the renaissance but also in the baroque and romantic period.
In the context of this film I’m playing with that term in movement textures and visual approaches.
The pomegranate is used as a symbol for abundance, resurrection, recovery and femininity. It also often reocurs in still lifes. The brutal act of peeling the fruit reflects and echoes the balance of joy and challenge of human experience.
Shedding layers of clothing resembles ripping layers of the pomegranates skin before you reach the precious insides. Is the work you put in, the mess, the stain worth the sweet but sour seed?

My name is Lorenzo Capecci and I was born in Italy. I started dancing by taking Hip Hop and BreakDance classes and after two years I was also studying Ballet and contemporary dance.
In 2021 I graduated from the Dance High School of Teramo and I joined the Bachelor Contemporary program of the ZHdK. Here I had the chance to improve my technique, to explore my style and to work with important choreographers such as Dunja Jocic, Nadav Zelnar. I am attending my third year of University as a stagier at Scapino Ballet Rotterdam having the opportunity to tour in the Netherlands with the company.
DIPLOMAPROJECT
Globalization is a process wherein diverse cultures have the opportunity to come into contact and be influenced by each other. This happened in the dance field around the 2000s, when contemporary dance met various other styles, that helped to create different nuances of it, in the period that we now call Fusion Dance. With this project I want to investigate where urban dance and contemporary dance meet and contrast, to research where the boundaries are and explore how contemporary dance can be inspired by different beats.

I was born in 2002 in Livorno, Italy. At the age of four, I entered the dance studio and haven't left until today. After studying in different dance schools in Italy I was admitted at the Zurich University of the Art in 2021.During this year I had the opportunity to be able to work with choreographers such as Dunja Jocic, Nadav Zelner, Didy Veldman and many more.
In this last year of university I am joining Scapino Ballet Rotterdam as an intern and joining the company in the production " Song of the dark forest" and "Origin".
DIPLOMAPROJECT
Behind the scenes, a dancer's journey is a careful and complex process that involves both physical and mental preparations. It all starts with an important warm-up routine to get the body ready for the upcoming performance. Moving beyond just the body, mental preparation becomes a big part of the process. As the performance gets closer, the dancer shifts to the routine of putting on makeup and costumes. This short film shows the careful work and dedication put into each moment, conducting in a journey that goes beyond just the physical aspects of dance, capturing the true essence of artistic expression.

carolin bodensteiner (sie/ihr; eng. they/them) studiert theaterregie an der zhdk, vorher auch schon soziologie/philosophie und theaterpädagogik an der uni potsdam und uni der künste berlin. ihr geht’s unter anderem gerade darum: künstlerische tätigkeit als politische praxis ~ theater als schauplatz und probierfeld für gemeinsames ~ dass es nicht so bleiben muss, wie es ist.
DIPLOMPROJEKT
Europa, 2024. Vor einem Kunstmuseum steht ein schweres bronzenes Tor. Seit Jahren gehegt und gepflegt hält es jeder Witterung stand. Es ist das Tor zur Hölle. Monumental und doch oftmals unbemerkt markiert es den Eintritt in den Untergrund europäischer Kunstinstitutionen bestehend aus Austellungsräumen, Archiven und Depots. Doch wie ein Tor öffnen, das keine Klinke besitzt? Wie hindurchschreiten, wenn die Türen fest verriegelt sind? Und wie kam dieses Tor überhaupt hierher?
Keeping the Gates widmet sich dem Öffnen von Verschlossenem, dem Bewachen von Eingängen und dem Verfolgen von Verwischtem. Die multimediale Performance schaut hinter glatte Rigipswände sowie unter staubfreie Oberflächen, beschwört Hexen, seziert Krankheiten und begegnet Kälte mit Gemeinschaftlichkeit.
Ausgehend von einem Kunstwerk, das repräsentativer Teil des westlichen Kunstkanons ist, stellt Keeping the Gates Fragen nach gesellschaftlichen Umgangsweisen mit Kunst, ihren historischen Bedingungen und gegenwärtigen Verstrickungen auf institutioneller wie auch persönlicher Ebene. Begleitet von der These, dass Gatekeeping eine alltägliche Praxis der bürgerlichen Gesellschaft ist, wird es als fürsorgliche, nachhaltige und ehrliche Art und Weise den Gegebenheiten und den Menschen zu begegnen untersucht. Ohne die Dinge neu zu erfinden, legt die Arbeit einen Fokus auf Tätigkeiten der Instandhaltung und des Kümmerns und versucht sich am Sprechen über das, was häufig hinter verschlossenen Türen im Vagen bleibt. Der white cube als Bühnenraum repräsentiert den bürgerlichen Kunstraum einer weißen und westlichen Aufgeklärtheit, welcher mit lebendigen Körpern, Sprache, Sound und imaginativen Bildern gefüllt wird. Im Rahmen eines Theaterabends wird versucht Wissen und Erfahrung miteinander zu teilen und von einem subjektzentrierten Gestalten von Welt zu einem gemeinschaftlichen Seins- und Bewohnungsmodus in der Welt einzuladen – auch und vor allem in Räumlichkeiten, die institutionell getragen und reglementiert werden.

Merlin began his studies in Environmental Sustainability with a minor in Scenography at Dalhousie University (Halifax), ultimately graduating with a BFA specialization Design for the Theatre with Honors in 2020 from Concordia University (Montreal). In his Master’s studies at ZHdK, Merlin seeks to synthesis his knowledge in design and sustainability.
Often stimulated from his walks around the city at night, meeting the many characters who inhabit it – he considers the spectacle of the changing urban landscape a work of theatre which inspires and prompts him to play within it.

Fiona Rae Brunner is a Swiss American actress. Born in New York she grew up splitting her time between Switzerland, Germany, and Oyster Bay, Long Island. She completed a Bachelor in Theater at Barnard College of Columbia University and spent the rest of her time studying traditional acting at the Eugene O´Neill Theater Center as well as with Jayd McCarty from The Studio New York and Brian McManamon from The Juilliard School. After starting to work with more community building oriented theater companies, she went to Palestine where she wrote, worked, and developed workshops with AshTar Theater in Ramallah. A theater that prioritizes combining theater making with asking questions of how to integrate and build community through artistic practices, ultimately attempting to make creativity something that is accessible, a space for conversation, and collective questioning. The Masters in Performance and Acting at ZHdK has offered an opportunity to recalibrate personal direction and interest and continue testing out different forms of her acting, writing, and performing practice.

Jana Meyer schliesst diesen Sommer ihr Bühnenbild Studium im Bachelor of Arts an der Zürcher Hochschule der Künste ab. Zuvor hatte sie eine Ausbildung zur Bekleidungsgestalterin EFZ und den Vorkurs für Gestaltung in Aarau absolviert. Neben dem Studium konnte sie diverse Erfahrungen in Theaterproduktionen als Bühnenbildnerin, sowie in den Bereichen Kostüm und Lichtdesign sammeln. Zudem arbeitete sie für verschiedene Ausstellungen als Szenografin und Technische Leitung.

Lukas Müllner schliesst im Sommer 2024 an der Zürcher Hochschule der Künste Bühnenbild im Bachelor of Arts ab, nachdem er erfolgreich die FMS im Bereich Kunst sowie den Vorkurs für Gestaltung an der Schule für Gestaltung Basel abgeschlossen hat. Neben dem Studium arbeitet er als freischaffender Bühnenbildner und Lichtdesigner bei diversen Theaterprojekten mit. Im letzten Jahr begleitete Lukas Müllner eine Wanderausstellung als Szenograf und Technischer Leiter durch verschiedene Theaterhäuser der Schweiz.

Es arbeitet an den Identifikationen des imaginierten Anderen, des Begehrenden und Verehrenden, aber auch des Abwesenden, das durch die eigene Kraft neu interpretiert wird.

Eulalie Déguénon (sie/ihr) lebt und arbeitet in Zürich. Sie interessiert sich für Räume, ihre Codes und alle Akteur*innen die sich in ihnen befinden. Besonders interessiert sie, wie diese miteinander in Beziehung treten können und inwiefern der Raum die Grundlage dafür bietet. In ihrer Praxis beschäftigt sie sich mit Verflechtungen zwischen Raum, Identität politischen Themen und Tauben.
Linus Jacobson (er/ihm), geboren in Stockholm, aufgewachsen und wohnhaft in Zürich. Nach abgeschlossener Lehre als Elektroinstallateur hat er viele Jahre im Dunstkreis des Nachtlebens verbracht, wo er erste räumliche Arbeiten realisieren durfte. Über ein Interesse an Literatur und aktuellen gesellschaftlichen Diskursen ist er zufällig im Theater gelandet, wo er über sinnliche Erzählweisen und einen sorgsamen Umgang mit Mensch, Material und Objekt poetische, assoziative Gedankenräume kreiert.

Das Land ist grau zu allen Seiten. Kaum irgendwas ist sichtbar, fast alles wird verschluckt von dieser schieren Masse Grau.
Wir hören Wasser ins Tal gehen, unter der Schnellstraße hindurch. Wir hören den Richtungswechsel der Züge, bei den Bahntrassen im Talkessel.
Der Audiowalk Glanzenberg; Morgental bewegt sich zwischen Heimatmythen, Erinnerungen und Material. In einer audiovisuellen Erkundung wollen wir die Beziehung von Landschaft und Beton in den Blick nehmen und ein ambivalentes Konzept von Heimat befragen.

Martina Schaub, wohnhaft in Basel, arbeitet Zurzeit als freischaffende Theaterpädagogin in verschiedenen Projekten mit Fokus auf Bewegung und tänzerische Auseinandersetzung.
Vor zwei Jahren hat sie gemeinsam mit Franca Stengl den Verein «netzWERK» gegründet und mit der Tanzperformance «durchsnetz» das erste Projekt in der freien Szene realisiert. Seit drei Jahren leitet Martina zwei Theaterclubs am Palazzo Liestal. Ihre Arbeitsweise ist geprägt von kollektiven, experimentellen und forschenden Momenten, die sich in Sprache und Bewegung auf der Bühne übersetzen - «weiter morphen» und sich im Wechselspiel abstrakt als auch konkret auf der Bühne äussern.

Melanie Guntern (Pronomen sie) interessiert sich für das Schaffen von theatralen Möglichkeitsräumen, wo Begegnung und Austausch passieren kann. Aktuell arbeitet sie als freischaffende Theaterpädagogin. Sie organisiert das Spiilplätz Festival 2024 in Zürich mit. Ausserdem erforscht sie als Teil des uantuzten theaterkollektivs partizipative Formen um mit Kindern gemeinsam Theater zu entwickeln und steht als Performerin selbst auf der Bühne.
DIPLOMPROJEKT
Anleitung um ein feministischer Vater zu sein:
1. Es gibt keine Anleitung für solche Dinge.
2. Gibt es Vorbilder?
3. Wir sind sicher die Falschen, um diese Anleitung zu schreiben.
4. Feminismus ist sowieso ein Reizwort.
5. FEMINISMUS.
6. Wir haben die Väter in uns selbst und um uns herum befragt.
7. Manchmal auch etwas nicht gesagt, weil…
8. Und gemerkt: die Sache ist kompliziert.
9. Aber nicht egal.
Drei erwachsene Kinder befragten ihre und andere Väter zu brennenden Fragen rund um Feminismus und entwickelten daraus einen theatralen Ted-Talk über feministische Vaterschaft. Eine Performance über die Macht der eigenen Rolle als Vater oder nicht Vater, mit Mut zur Uneinigkeit und der Sehnsucht sich zu verstehen.

Nina Balmer bewegt sich als Theaterschaffende, als Performerin, Theaterpädagogin und Rapperin. In ihren Arbeiten setzt sie sich auf provokant poetische Weise mit Sprache und deren Möglichkeiten auseinander, so hat sie mit dem Hörspiel „Stöhn dich zu sehen“ die Chorgasse des Theater Neumarkt in Zürich bespielt, in der Inszenierung „Rausch“ unter der Leitung und Initiative der Komponistin Aleksandra Sucur Körper und Stimme in Form von Schauspiel, Rap, und Gesang beigetragen. Sie ist Teil des Formats „FLINTAQ Cypher, welche Plattform für Newcomer:inne, welche sich im Rap ausprobieren möchten moderiert und organisiert.
2019 war sie für ein Austausch an der Theaterschule Ecolè Gambidi Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso. Die Produktion SOUHUNG von Vanderbolten.Production begleitete sie Theaterpädagogisch und in ihrer Abschlussinszenierung zur Theaterpädagogin an der ZhdK „Fleisch, oder wie wir uns zart halten können“ setzte sie sich mit jungen Menschen mit dem Thema Pornografie auseinander.

Wie wollen wir’s treiben und wenn ja, wie weit? Was berührt uns und wie wollen wir berühren, uns berühren lassen? Wie können wir in unsere Abgründe liegen und uns da geborgen fühlen? Baby i am PORN this Way! Eine theaterpädagogische Stückentwicklung zum Thema Pornografie.
Eine provokante Zärtlichkeit wagen, ein Annäherungsversuch.
Wir laufen aus, um uns mit den Themen Sexualität, Poronografie und Intimitäten zu beschäftigen.
Wir reiben uns an einander und an der Welt in der wir sozialisiert wurden um uns miteinander mit Raum und Körper zu vertiefen.
Ein offener Raum für Kunst und Theater im kleinen Rahmen mit grossen Fragen.
