Das ganze Stadion schaut auf ihn. Jetzt muss er entscheiden und die Energie eines ganzen Stadions dirigieren.

Beschreibung:
Kurzfilm, dokumentarisch, 17 Min.
Ich betrat bei einem Testdreh zum ersten Mal in meinem Leben ein Fussball-Stadion. Ich fühlte mich überwältigt von der schieren Masse der Menschen und dem Druck, welche sie durch ihre gemeinsamen Wünsche, Enttäuschungen und Freude auf die Mitte des Feldes richteten. Mit schäumenden Mäulern feuerten sie ihre Mannschaft im Guten wie im Schlechten an. Dieser Moment war massgebend für meine Arbeit im Sounddesign. Ich konnte die Rolle des Schiedsrichters besser verstehen und begriff ab dem Moment auch die Faszination von Hodel. Es war auf dem Set und auch im Studio eine grosse Herausforderung, aber auch eine grosse Freude die Klang-Szenografie und Emotionen eines Stadions nachzubauen und zu verstärken.

Eigentlich fehlt nur noch ein formaler Händedruck zwischen zwei Politikern um einen Vertrag zu besiegeln. Doch als beide Hitzköpfe versuchen innerhalb der Formalität eines Händedrucks die Oberhand zu gewinnen, nimmt ihre Kompromisslosigkeit ein Eigenleben an.

Kurzfilm, Fiktion, 4 Min.
Der Film von Ennio Ruschetti besticht durch seine kompromisslose Machart. Es ist eine Hommage an toxischer Männlichkeit und leerem Politikum, welche in ein Crescendo von Absurdität endet. Als Sound Designer durfte ich mich voll austoben und von Horror- und Comedy Stereotypen gebrauch machen. Um an glaubwürdige Audio-Aufnahmen der Menschenmenge zu kommen, versammelte ich eine Gruppe von zwanzig Leuten und ging mit ihnen die verschiedenen emotionalen Zustände, welche von Still bis panisch und verzweifelt reichen, durch. Insgesamt ein wirklich unterhaltsames Unterfangen.

Synopsis:
An octophonic work exploring breath and the human voice, deconstructed and organised in multimodes, seeking out unventured terroir and sans language, to sound out the unheard, the suppressed, the invisible, the undeveloped, the inner and the other. Eight speakers become embodiments of the alt human. In the deep murky recesses of my clumsy subconscious sprung forth this idea of a better, more improved model human. In this last year, having spent so much time physically alone, and encountering human interaction through zoom or phone conversation only, I came to rely a lot on the voices of people as a gauge for intimacy, or humanity, if you will, a way to measure or tell from hearing vocal articulation, how well I was actually connecting. I started to observe more closely the infinite minute details of voices, and this led to the possibility of redesigning a new sonic experience of human "anima", our vital force. Alchemy dabbling. The human voice can be strong but also vulnerable, incredibly multi-faceted, and a carrier of so much nuance. Another reason why I am curious about this notion of intimacy, is if by working with these voices, there'd still be a way to feel and respond instinctively to the outcome. I also wanted to step back from being a composer, so in using Max to engineer a garden of vocal “happenings”, I relinquish some artistic control and what is heard is a result of autonomous and accidental unfolding events.

- Der eine liegt im Finnischen Meerbusen und schützt die Stadt St. Petersburg vor Überschwemmungen, der andere liegt auf mehr als 2’000 Metern über Meer und dient der Energieversorgung der Stadt Zürich. Der eine ist 25 Kilometer lang, der andere 115 Meter hoch. Über den einen führt eine Autobahn, über den anderen ein Wanderweg.
Die Rede ist von zwei 2’500 Kilometer voneinander entfernt liegenden Staudämmen im russisch-finnischen und im schweizerisch-italienischen Grenzgebiet, die während einer kollaborativen Projektwoche mit Studierenden und Dozierenden des Art & Science Center der ITMO University St. Petersburg (https://en.itmo.ru) erkundet werden.
Als elementare Infrastrukturen der Energieversorgung und des Bevölkerungsschutzes gehören Dämme und Staumauern seit der Industrialisierung zum Landschaftsbild zahlreicher Regionen der Erde. Als monumentale Zeugen der Nutzbarmachung natürlicher Ressourcen und des menschlichen Bemühens, Naturgewalten unter Kontrolle zu bringen, stellen sie unsere Vorstellungen von «unberührter» Natur in Frage. Was war da, bevor die Dämme gebaut wurden? Von wem und mit welchen Interessen wurden sie geplant? Welche sozialen und politischen Konflikte entzündeten sich im Zuge ihrer Projektierung und Realisierung? Welche Geschichten ranken sich um sie? Welche ökologischen Auswirkungen haben sie auf den sie umgebenden Lebensraum? Was haben sich frühere Generationen von ihnen versprochen und welche (nachhaltigen) Zukünfte lassen sich mit ihnen denken?
Auf einer 5-tägigen Exkursion ins Bergell setzen sich die teilnehmenden der Projektwoche mittels künstlerischer, ethnographischer und/oder wissenschaftlicher Praktiken sowie im Austausch mit Expert:innen vor Ort, mit den sozialen, ästhetischen, symbolischen, technischen, historischen und ökologischen Eigenheiten rund um die Albigna-Staumauer auseinander. Die Beobachtungen werden gleichzeitig per Internet (Zoom u.a.) ausgetauscht und verglichen, mit jenen der Studierenden und Dozierenden des Art & Science Center der ITMO University in St. Petersburg (https://en.itmo.ru), die sich mit dem in der Meerbucht vor der Stadt gelegenen Petersburger Damm befassen.

Wolfram Hölls zeitgenössischer Theatertext «Disko» bildet den Ausgangspunkt und Referenzrahmen für die diesjährigen Abschlussinszenierungen des BA Theater in Zusammenarbeit von Dramaturgie, Bühne, Schauspiel, Regie und Gästen. Vier Freunde sind unterwegs zu einem Rave. Auf dem Weg treffen sie auf eine unbekannte Frau, die aus dem Nichts auftaucht und mitkommen möchte. Für die Gruppe stellt sich die Frage: Nehmen wir sie mit oder nicht?
In der sprachlich strengen Form von Hölls Theatertext untersucht die Inszenierung verschiedene Szenarien der Ausgrenzung.

Das hier ist eine Auseinandersetzung mit den Strukturen in Wolfram Hölls Text „Disko“, die sich durch Abgrenzung und Ausgrenzung definieren. Das hier ist die Suche nach einem Gegenentwurf. Das hier ist der Versuch, einem beängstigenden System Poesie entgegenzusetzen.
disconnected ist die Ansammlung von Visionen einer Welt, in der wir wieder verbunden sind. Verbunden mit der Natur, dem nächsten W-LAN und vor allem miteinander als Menschen. disconnected erzählt in einer audio-visuellen und emotional erfahrbaren Ästhetik.

- KOKO is the next generation online journal for the Shared Campus. It is an independent academic publication dedicated to the investigation of theories and practices of alternative knowledge systems that explore the relations between media and expression, time and space.
To this aim, KOKO activates the potentials of visual, audio and text-based formats – traditional and non-traditional – as next generation means for research production.
KOKO encourages experimental speculative research beyond the limitations of disciplinary perspectives or conventional formats to facilitate ideas, positions, and contributions into diverse dimensions of knowledge.
KOKO seeks to publish new research that promotes a culture of sharing, open distribution, and the on-going exchange of ideas, without losing sight of rigorous academic practice. It engages in the creation of a body of critical and reflexive contributions – in any form and/or medium – with a breadth and depth of thought that will produce new knowledge, creative methodologies, original applications, and substantiated understanding. KOKO not only challenges and re-considers traditional research, and publication formats, but aims at establishing alternative new standards, conventions, and protocols in academic publishing.
The online format of KOKO allows to digress from the common traditional journal structure/operation, e.g. the sequential publication in volumes and issues, the acceptance of papers by set deadlines only, the setting of temporary themes for specific volume/issues only etc. Instead, right from the start, KOKO launches with five themed “spaces” that are all concurrently open for submissions, and will continuously update upon positive review of newly received contributions.

- Die Ausstellung Animals We Are Ourselves ist an das Seminar «Art & Collecting» von Laura Bechter und Dr. Gabrielle Schaad angegliedert. Von Fragestellungen zum Verhältnis von Mensch und Tier ausgehend ermöglicht die Präsentation, Motive und (kunsthistorische) Referenzen in der zeitgenössischen Kunst am Beispiel von Tierdarstellungen herauszuarbeiten. Zudem bietet sie den Studierenden bereits im Aufbauprozess Einblicke in die technischen Bereiche der Konservation und des Art Handlings.
NEST ist ein Ausstellungsraum des Bachelor Fine Arts, der sich in den Fine-Art-Studios des Toni-Areals befindet. Seit Herbst 2021 arbeitet NEST mit der Sammlung Ursula Hauser zusammen – die zu einer der wichtigsten Sammlungen für zeitgenössische Kunst weltweit zählt. Der Sammlungsfokus liegt auf Künstlerinnen des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts wie Louise Bourgeois, Maria Lassnig und Alina Szapocznikow. Die Kooperation ermöglicht es, Sammlungswerke als Leihgaben in Lehre und Forschung einzubinden. So lassen sich im Dialog konservatorische und theoretische Fragen praxisnah zu diskutieren. Die Lust an der leiblichen Wahrnehmung von Kunst und deren diskursiver Reflexion rücken damit nach einer längeren Phase des digitalen Kommunizierens wieder ins Zentrum.

- "The Calm Before the Storm" is a group exhibition by students of the Department of Fine Arts. It marks the reopening of NEST, an exhibition space initiated by the Department of Fine Arts within the Toni area.
The idiom "the calm before the storm" refers to a period of tense waiting, a posture of wariness, the possibly deceptive retreat before an event that lies in the future. This interval sometimes makes the present seem strangely tenacious. It also remains unclear whether future events are to be looked forward to with anticipation or fear, or even whether they will occur at all. Under this title, the Open Call exhibition for the reopening of the exhibition space NEST brings together works by students of the Department of Fine Art (BA and MA). The works shown by Yumna Al-Arashi, Line Chevalley, Mathieu Dafflon, Till Kadler, Lyenne Perkmann, Jason Rohr, Carla Schleiffer and Luca Süss were created between 2020 and 2021 and explore the aforementioned spectrum of associations with different approaches in terms of media, material and content.
