- Staudämme, Staumauern, Wasserkraftwerke, Stromleitungen. Infrastrukturbauten zur Energieproduktion und -distribution befinden sich in einer Landschaft, deren Bild sie verändern. Die Umgestaltung alpiner Landschaften durch moderne Infrastrukturbauten zeugt von den Bedürfnissen unserer Gesellschaft, die dabei in Konflikt mit dem Erhalt der traditionellen Landschaftsbilder, wie sie von Natur- und Heimatschutz gefordert werden, stehen. Seit der Energiewende ist dieser Konflikt wieder vermehrt im Fokus, da der mögliche Ausbau erneuerbarer Energie mithelfen soll, die Ziele der Energiewende zu erreichen. Landschaften sind aber nicht nur geographischer Raum, sie sind auch kulturell codierte Vorstellungen der Sehnsüchte und Phantasien in unseren Köpfen. Wie stehen nun aber diese Staudämme im Verhältnis zur Landschaft? Ihre Forschungsreisen führen Annina Boogen ins Feld in die alpinen Räume der Schweiz. Orte an denen Infrastruktur und traditionelle Kulturlandschaften ineinander übergehen. Das Feld ist ein Raum der Beteiligung, der Teilhabe, in dem die Forscherin gleichwertig wie andere Wesen beobachtet und beobachtet wird, agiert und reagiert. Zwischen 2018 und 2020 besucht Annina rund 26 Staudämme in acht Schweizer Kantonen, dabei entwickelt sie in einem iterativen performativ-forschenden Prozess ein Feldbeobachtungsprotokoll, jedoch gilt im Feld die Aufmerksamkeit dem Prozess der Datensammlung und nicht den Daten selbst. Durch den Prozess findet eine Fokussierung statt, auf das Wahrnehmen mit den Sinnen, Hören, Fühlen und Sehen, also einen ästhetischen Zugang. Am vorläufigen Ende dieses Projektes steht der nicht-wissenschaftlicher Synthesebericht. Er ist eine Assemblage von vermeintlich «objektiven» systematisch erhobenen Forschungsdaten, «objektiven» und «subjektiven» Erkenntnissen sowie Erfahrungsmomenten und Geschichten der Forschungsreisen. Es ist aber auch eine Assemblage von verschiedenen Schreibformen und im Forschungsprozess entstandenen Texten, Bildern und Klängen, die in der Form einer Schallplatte zusammenkommen.

- INSERT. Artistic Practices as Cultural Inquiries ist eine Open Access Publikationsplattform, die eine Engführung künstlerischer, wissenschaftlicher und kuratorischer Praktiken im Rahmen kulturanalytischer Forschung sucht. Sie versteht Kunst als einen Möglichkeitsraum für Kritik, sowohl im analytischen wie auch im transformativen Sinn. Die einzelnen thematischen Ausgaben von insert versammeln Beiträge, die an die Frage anknüpfen, inwiefern selbstreflexive ästhetische Praktiken eine Analyse von kulturellen Konstruktionen, deren Politiken und Wirkungsweisen zu leisten vermögen.
INSERT wurde 2020/21 von Sigrid Adorf, Noëmie Stähli und Julia Wolf am Forschungsschwerpunkt Kulturanalyse in den Künsten an der Zürcher Hochschule der Künste im Rahmen des SNF-Forschungsprojekts „“ Insert Citation: Kulturelle Übertragungsprozesse künstlerisch_wissenschaftlich analysieren entwickelt. Die Ausgaben (in der Regel zwei pro Jahr) widmen sich unterschiedlichen Themenschwerpunkten und werden von wechselnden Herausgeber*innen verantwortet.
Die in der ersten Ausgabe Zonen der Gegenwart – Praktiken der Annäherung versammelten theoretischen und künstlerischen Beiträge sind reflexive Auseinandersetzungen, die es möglich machen, Zonen unserer Gegenwart erkennbar werden zu lassen. Die Ausgabe wurde von Sigrid Adorf, Noëmi Stähli und Julia Wolf herausgegeben.

- Die Stiftung IMAI – Inter Media Art Institute präsentiert, archiviert, verleiht und verkauft zeitbasierte Medienkunst. Sie knüpft damit an eine lange Geschichte alternativer Kunst-Distribution seit den 1970er Jahren an, die eine Demokratisierung der Kunstrezeption anvisiert.
Das Videoprogramm «Do videos dream of glitching?» ist im Rahmen eines Praxisprojekts in Zusammenarbeit zwischen der Stiftung IMAI – Inter Media Art Institute in Düsseldorf und dem Master of Arts in Art Education Curatorial Studies entstanden.
Do videos dream of glitching?
Im Zentrum des Videoprogramms stand das Konzept des „Glitches“. Ein Glitch, so wurde durch das Projektteam formuliert, kann absichtlich oder auch zufällig entstehen. Er zelebriert die ineffiziente, irrationale, lästige Störung. Videokünstler*innen nutzen das Glitching, so die zentrale These der Projektgruppe, als emanzipatorische Strategie, die eine vertiefte Technologiekritik ermöglicht. Die ausgewählten Arbeiten hinterfragten in diesem Sinne die Grenze zwischen Fehlfunktion und Manipulation.
Ausgehend von einer inhaltlich konzeptuellen Analyse des Archivs der Stiftung IMAI – Inter Media Art Institute wählte das siebenköpfige Projektteam folgerichtig insgesamt 7 Videos aus, die das Thema „Glitches“ aus unterschiedlicher Perspektive behandeln. Das Videoprogramm war zwischen Samstag, den 8. Mai 2021 und Sonntag. 30. Mai auf der IMAI Website zu sehen. Ausserdem wurde das Programm in der Videolounge des IMAI im NRW-Forum in Grossprojektion gezeigt.

- Ausgehend von der Beobachtung, dass Tiere auf Theaterbühnen gerade sehr «in» sind, untersuchte und befragte ich meine eigene künstlerische Praxis, welche sich mit dem Nichtmenschlichen beschäftigt. Aus dieser Auseinandersetzung ist ein Textkomplex aus dreizehn unterschiedlichen Texten entstanden, welche teilweise theoretisch, essayistisch, fragend und autobiographisch sind.
Im Zentrum dieses Textkomplexes steht ein Manifest, welches ein posthumanistisches TheaterDenken fordert. Ein Denken, welches nicht mehr den Menschen ins Zentrum stellt, sondern die vielfältigen Vernetzungen, Symbiosen und Kollaborationen von menschlichen und nichtmenschlichen Wesen zum Ausgangspunkt nimmt. Wie lässt sich dieses Denken im Theater umsetzen? Was muss sich am Theater verändern, damit nichtmenschliche Akteur*innen in künstlerischen Prozessen auf Augenhöhe mit menschlichen Akteur*innen kollaborieren können? Damit beschäftigt sich dieser Textkomplex.
Posthumanismus wird in dieser Masterarbeit nicht als abgestecktes Gebiet eines spezifischen Wissens betrachtet, sondern als strategisch gesetzte Denkbewegung, um Prozesse der Kritik, der Hinterfragung und des Anders-Denkens auszulösen - so wie ein Wildschwein auf den Wald losgeht, sucht und in die Tiefe gräbt. Ob sich Trüffel dabei finden, ist weniger wichtig. Es geht darum, den Waldboden umzuwälzen.
Der Textkomplex ist nonlinear aufgebaut und auf der Website www.posthumanifest.ch zu lesen. Die Arbeit am Textkomplex ist bewusst nicht abgeschlossen, weshalb es auch keine Printversion des Textkomplexes gibt. Die einzige physische Existenz der Masterarbeit ist als Flyer mit einem Einführungstext, einem QR-Code und einer Karte zur Navigation im Textkomplex.
Die Texte sind collagierte Assemblagen. Zwar bin ich, Noemi, die Hauptautorin. Doch viele andere Stimmen verschaffen sich in diesem Textkomplex Gehör, wie beispielsweise Kater Milo, der mit Interventionen auf der Tastatur auf gestalterischer Ebene in den Text eingreift. Und kann man einer Katze die Mitarbeit an einem posthumanistischen Manifest verweigern? So mischen sich auch Textfragmente aus E.T.A. Hoffmanns «Lebensansichten des Katers Murr» in die Texte und spiegeln die Frage nach nichtmenschlicher Autorschaft auf literarischer Ebene. Und auch für die Lesenden gibt es die Möglichkeit, ihre Gedanken über die Kommentarfunktion auf der Website einzubringen.

Die Choreografen Guido Markowitz und Damian Gmür, die Leiter des Ballett Theater Pforzheim, stellten emotionale und existenzielle Aspekte des Menschseins an den Anfang ihrer Kreation. Ängste, gar Verzweiflung, aber auch Kampfbereitschaft, Sehnsüchte und Träume inspirierten die Künstler zusammen mit den Studierenden zu einer Choreografie voller Bildkraft, Gegensätzlichkeit und wilder Zartheit. Kreativ, energetisch und physisch wurden die Impulse in Bewegung gebracht und choreografisch gestaltet.

Human beings have the ability to share those thoughts aloud, but we don't always have the courage to do so. The work is a journey to connect with our thoughts and share them with the world.

Since many years we have been exploring group choreography, and the art of creating on stage, with a group of performers, a moving organism capable of forming and breaking down into flexible and fluid formations, which is the sum of its thinking cells, creating a collective consciousness. A world enriched by the multiform harmony of its different elements, the acceptance of individual differences, their valorization and visibility.
COS, excerpt of our last work Cosmos, is the outcome of this exploration with the students of the ZHdK, the conjunction of trajectories and geometries, rotations and revolutions. And new scenic orbits.

Choreograf Muhammed Kaltuk erarbeitet mit Studierenden des 1. Jahrgangs eine abstrakte Skizze, die sich an den Themen Kampf, Zusammenhalt, Alleinsein abarbeitet. Das Arbeitsprinzip von Kaltuk ist immer erst das Entdecken der individuellen Potenziale der Tänzer:innen, mit denen er arbeitet. Damit als Ausgangsmaterial startet er in den Probenprozess. Er bringt die Tänzer:innen an ihre physischen Grenzen, fordert sie heraus und kombiniert das Bewegungsmaterial mit seiner eigenen Formsprache.
Den Rahmen bildet die Musik von Woodkid, in der es um den Kampf von Unschuld und Versuchung, um die große Angst vor dem Leben und um die Entscheidungen geht, entweder zu beißen oder gebissen zu werden. Kaltuk sucht mit den jungen Studierenden, die ganz am Anfang stehen, nach Ängsten, nach den Kämpfen, nach den Verlusten, an denen man wächst. Entstanden sind sechs Minuten absoluter Zerrissenheit, in denen alle Sicherheit zerlegt wird.

- It is an experimental piece of interdisciplinary mixed media that incorporates Hip Hop music and Chinese calligraphy. (Music produced by Kahoo Yang, a beat maker from China)
With long studying of Chinese calligraphy, Dai has generated her own understanding and style of writing. However, she also gets confused by some questions from time to time. She wants to ask, argue, and answer her own questions by means of a planned experiment. Instead of contemplating, she wants to listen to the audience.
It is a work to challenge herself as well as the audience.

- The KP came together through two common needs—that of examining the term artistic practice and that of working and processing collectively. With three different languages and each of us a different disciplinary background, we constantly analyse and exchange with different approaches and methodologies, bringing and cultivating diverse perspectives, interests and understandings to our common work. We are asking: Who determines artistic practice according to which criteria? Under what circumstances can I call myself an artist and what definition of value is attached to the work I do? What makes a practice artistic and what makes something be a practice? Can we go beyond the dichotomy of theory and practice? In a wider sense, where are the borders of art as a definition and where are its borders of action-ability in comparison to other fields like the social? We decided to open a Künstlerische Praxis together, not to find definite solutions, but to explore and expand our questions and to give space to practice together. The word play that we create through the double meaning of the term Praxis sets artistic practice as an action in a relationship and dependency with the place, that is in the conventional sense a place to see a doctor, to find healing
or knowledge. In scientific fields knowledge and expertise are well embedded in a system of legitimacy and truth, manifested in the example of a doctor, a therapist and a patient. We are asking, is this also the case in the arts? Who is the patient and who is the expert then? By inventing a Praxis in an art context, we have the freedom to define the knowledge and truth ourselves. Patients and experts, truths and solutions don’t exist—instead, we mark out a playground of experimenting and make the group itself the object of observation. Taking the group as a fixed point, we regularly open the experiment to public encounters hoping for a mutual influence and reorientation. Through our methods, tools and discussions, we seek to explore artistic practices in the realm of social space in order to make visible
social aspects within artistic practice—while also exploring creative perspectives within community networks. Working with process-based methods where field research, discussion and participation shape the character of the project, our focus is not put on finding answers, but rather on keeping questions alive, testing boundaries and blurring them where necessary.
