MATERIAL ARCHIV ist ein branchenunabhängiges, interdisziplinäres Netzwerk, entstanden in Zusammenarbeit von Gewerbemuseum Winterthur, Sitterwerk St.Gallen, Hochschule Luzern Technik & Architektur, der ETH, der ZHAW, der Hochschule der Künste Bern sowie der Zürcher Hochschule der Künste.
Es umfasst verschiedene Materialsammlungen, die auf den Schwerpunkten des jeweiligen Standorts basieren. Diese bieten zusammen mit der als digitales Nachschlagewerk angelegten gemeinsamen Online-Datenbank einen breiten und fundierten Zugang zu Materialwissen.
Gestalterische Berufsgruppen aus Architektur, Design und Kunst sowie Studentinnen, SchülerInnen und Auszubildende finden hier eine Fülle von Informationen zu traditionellen und innovativen Werkstoffen. In den verschiedenen Sammlungen können Muster der Materialien mit allen Sinnen erfahren, verglichen und beforscht werden.
