- Larissa Platz’s Master’s thesis is a speculative curatorial research project. Platz employs the visual essay format to create a piece where cosmologies are constellated, associations flow, and tools to subvert the regime of the gaze are tested. Focusing on Anito, an ambient ancestral spirit from around the island of Pongso No Tao in Taiwan, she positions minor deities and ancestral spirits within the predicament of Christianity and the paradoxes of modernity. Platz draws on Anito, who hovers between malevolence and friendliness, the dead and the living, to investigate how one can narrate something from the perspective of a liminal entity, and if one can write against artificial boundaries without reproducing them. In doing so, she sheds light on the apparent contradictions of modernity and lays out how resistance may unfold at sites of extraction, colonial expansion, and political ideology.

- In recent years, exhibition-making has increasingly engaged with concepts of care, kinship, and restorative interventions. In her Master’s thesis, Leonie Bremser examines contemporary artistic and curatorial practices that work with community-building and participatory approaches, drawing on moments of healing or ecological insights through indigenous knowledge production or ancient rituals. Informed by queer feminist and decolonial perspectives and against the backdrop of the convergence of pressing global crises, these practices aim to challenge oppressive power structures and to raise awareness of our interdependent relationships with other living beings and the earth. Bremser explores how these concerns can be implemented in curatorial practice; for example, by making a diverse cultural program accessible to a broad audience or by creating meeting spaces that enable sensory experiences of togetherness and solidarity. Through her approach she also questions the potential of the museum space.

- Wie kann immaterielles Kulturerbe, das heisst überlieferte Ausdrucksformen, die an menschliches Wissen und Können gebunden und nicht in einem materiellen Sinn greifbar sind, in Ausstellungen gezeigt werden? Dieser Frage geht Linda Walter in ihrer Masterthesis nach, indem sie die Repräsentation und Inszenierung von immateriellem Kulturerbe in vier verschiedenen Ausstellungssituationen analysiert. Dabei interessiert sie sich insbesondere für Ansätze, die den Körper als Medium immaterieller Kultur verstehen. Vor diesem Hintergrund arbeitet Walter gestalterische Techniken des Dar- und Ausstellens heraus, mit welchen Besucher:innen aktiv eingebunden werden und immaterielles Kulturerbe sinnlich erfahren können.

- Kunst ist Spiegel und Treiber gesellschaftlicher Transformationen. Inwiefern gilt dies auch für Kunstinstitutionen? In seiner Masterarbeit nimmt Ugo Pecoraio die Transformationspolitiken von Kunstinstitutionen in den Blick. Am Beispiel von Kunstmuseen zeigt er auf, dass Transformation in diesem Kontext häufig lediglich äusserlich auf der Ebene der Repräsentation stattfindet, während die internen institutionellen Strukturen unverändert bleiben: Hinter den Fassaden spektakulärer Neubauten und umgenutzter historischer Gebäude dominieren nach wie vor hierarchische Organisationsformen. Pecoraio fragt, wie Blockchain-Technologie und Dezentralisierte Autonome Organisationen so in die (künstlerische) Institutionskritik und Institutionsentwicklung integriert werden könnten, dass eine Transformation hin zu flacheren Hierarchien und gerechterer Machtverteilung in Kunstinstitutionen möglich wird.

- In ihrer Masterarbeit untersucht Mareen Wrobel, wie Ausstellungen durch Storytelling an gesellschaftlichen Diskursen teilnehmen können. Am Beispiel einer Ausstellung im Stapferhaus Lenzburg analysiert sie Storytellingpraktiken natur- und kulturhistorischer Museen und fragt nach deren Übertragbarkeit auf Kunstausstellungen. Wrobels Arbeit führt in Storytelling, Narration und Szenografie ein und zeigt auf, wie multidisziplinäres Geschichtenerzählen in Ausstellungen komplexe Themen zugänglich machen und die aktive Teilhabe des Publikums fördern kann.

- In ihrer Masterarbeit beschreibt und analysiert Vivianne Tat den Prozess der Gestaltung und Ausführung der Gruppenausstellung «Wide-Angle Framework», die sie für den Art Space FOMO kuratierte. Das Ausstellungskonzept fokussiert auf die Schnittstelle zwischen Fotokunst und digitaler Technologie, insbesondere künstlicher Intelligenz. Es zielt darauf ab, ein Bewusstsein für die transformative Kraft der Verbindung von Kunst und KI im Hinblick auf Kreativität, Diskurs und Teilhabe zu schaffen, indem die Interaktionen zwischen Mensch und Technologie im Prozess der Entstehung der Werke sichtbar gemacht werden. In ihrer Thesis reflektiert Tat, inwiefern die Auswahl der Werke und deren Inszenierung sowie die interaktiven Elemente der Ausstellung zu diesem Ziel beigetragen haben. Damit zeigt sie auf, wie technologische Instrumente nicht nur als Werkzeuge, sondern auch als Akteure im kreativen Prozess begreifbar werden können.
