- Theater und Tanz von und mit DarstellerInnen mit Behinderung ist sehr erfolgreich und geniesst eine entsprechend grosse Aufmerksamkeit in der zeitgenössischen Theater- und Tanzszene – dies nicht erst, seit das Zürcher Theater HORA den Grand Prix Suisse de Théâtre / Hans-Reinhart-Ring 2016 gewann. Die Hybrid Media Publikation beleuchtet aktuelle Entwicklungen dieser Theater-und Tanzszene in der Schweiz mit dem Fokus auf Arbeitsweisen, die Ausbildung sowie die Rezeption durch das Publikum.
Das SNF-Forschungsprojekt „DisAbility on Stage“ an der Zürcher Hochschule der Künste in Kooperation mit anderen Hochschulen, Theater-und Tanzkompanien und Festivals untersuchte diese Aspekte im Dialog zwischen Theorie und Praxis sowie zwischen den verschiedenen Sprachregionen der Schweiz. Die Hybrid Media Publication vermittelt die Ergebnisse der Forschung mittels Text-, Video- und Bildmaterial an ein breites Publikum. Die Inhalte sind in leichter Sprache sowie in Fachsprache erhältlich.
Die Hybrid Media Publikation wurde als Band 19 der Reihe subTexte der ZHdK veröffentlicht.

- Die Werkschau „FINEALLY“ ist eine Ausstellung von Diplomierenden des ZHdK Fine Arts
Bachelor.
Vor der Pandemie bildet die Degree Show den Höhe- und Abschlusspunkt der drei Studienjahre.
Hier zeigen die Absolventinnen und Absolventen was sie während der drei
Studienjahre gelernt haben. Gleichzeitig markiert die Ausstellung den Abschluss des
Studiums und den Übergang in einen neuen Lebensabschnitt.
Da die offizielle Diplomausstellung des Bachelor-Fine-Arts-Studienganges an der ZHdK
dieses Jahr auf Grund der aktuellen Lage nur online stattfindet, eröffnet die vorliegende
Gruppenausstellung «FINEALLY» in der Manegg Vereinzelten der Abschlussklasse 2021
eine zusätzliche Plattform für ihre persönliche, künstlerische und diskursive Selbstexposition.
Was die Gruppenausstellung «FINEALLY» besonders auszeichnet, ist nebst ihrem
Begründen auf Eigeninitiative auch der experimentell offene Umgang mit den Medien
und künstlerischen Genres sowie Strategien.
Sie vollzieht den Schritt der Studentinnen und Studenten aus der Institution in die
Öffentlichkeit der Gesellschaft und stellt somit auch einen Berührungspunkt mit der
Aussenwelt und deren Unerschöpflichkeit an Möglichkeiten dar.

- In Adalbert, diesem gewöhnlichen Niemand, schlummert eine tiefe Sehnsucht nach einem höheren Sinn, einem Zweck seines Daseins. Für ihn ist das Menschsein zu eng, zu einschränkend und langweilig. Er versteht sich als ein Wesen, das die Grenzen der Wahrnehmung zwischen Mensch, Tier und anderen Spezies sprengt.
In Adalberts Gedankenpalast, diesem gedanklichen Ort, an dem er die volle Kontrolle darüber hat, wie er wahrgenommen wird, folgen wir seinen Fantasien bis zum bitteren Ende. Wir werden Zeuge der berauschenden Erfahrung, die er macht, als er sein Haustier, eine schwarze Katze, die er sehr mag, tötet. Was die Moleküle, aus denen er besteht, neu anordnet und ihn zu diesem höheren Wesen formt. Hungrig nach einer ähnlichen Erfahrung, versucht er, das Gefühl mit anderen Katern nachzustellen, aber es funktioniert nicht mehr. Der Nervenkitzel ist vorbei, bis ihm in den Sinn kommt, dass er einen Menschen töten kann.
Dieser zweite Akt vervollständigt Adalbert und gibt ihm das Selbstvertrauen, uns als Zuschauer*innen davon überzeugen zu wollen, dass es eine Natürlichkeit in der Perversion gibt. Als unzuverlässiger Erzähler versucht er, uns zu locken und uns seine Weltsicht verständlich zu machen, aber er sieht offensichtlich nicht, dass er allein ist.

- Mit Hilfe von Magenta Farbfiltern (LEE 332) wird das Tageslicht gefiltert und der ganze Raum intensiv eingefärbt.
Durch das Verweilen im Raum verändert sich die eigene Farbwahrnehmung und passt sich selektiv an. Man beobachtet, wie das Magenta immer schwächer wird und ein grünes Nachbild überall dort auftaucht, wo man in weisses Licht schaut.
Je nach Tageszeit und Lichtverhältnisse verändert sich die wahrgenommene Farbe von hellem Magenta bei direktem Sonnenlicht bis zu bläulichem Violett bei bewölktem oder indirekten Dämmerungslicht, sowie in Schattenbereichen.
Bei tief stehender Sonne werden die vermehrten langwelligen Anteile des Lichts sichtbar und das gefilterte direkte Sonnenlicht färbt den Raum entsprechend rötlich.
Dieses immersive Farberlebnis eröffnet den Besuchern die Möglichkeit, den architektonischen Raum neu zu erleben und die eigene Farbwahrnehmung zu beobachten und zu hinterfragen. Gleichzeitig nimmt die Installation Bezug auf die Tradition gefärbter Gläser in Sakralbauten.

Praxisprojekt mit der Stiftung IMAI - Inter Media Art Institute Düsseldorf
Im Praxisprojekt wurde für die Stiftung IMAI ein Screeningprogramm sowie ein Online-Vermittlungsprogramm entwickelt. Im Zentrum des Projekts steht die Frage, wie zeitbasierte Medienkunst vermittelt werden kann.

- Die gemeinsame Studienreise des Master Art Education fand auf Grund der aktuellen Situation in Zusammenhang mit dem Coronavirus innerhalb der Schweiz statt. An insgesamt vier Tagen beschäftigten sich die Studierenden vor Ort mit der Konzeption von Museen und Ausstellungen, künstlerischen Positionen und Vermittlungsangeboten. In den besuchten Institutionen gaben Kurator*innen und Vermittler*innen vertiefende Einblicke in ihre Handlungsräume sowie ihre Aufgabenbereiche. Organisiert und begleitet wurde die Studienreise von Angeli Sachs und Bruno Heller.
Rückblickend hat die Studienreise offengelegt, wie zentral der gemeinsame Erfahrungsaustausch und die Ausstellungsanalyse im Raum für das Studium sind. Auch der Austausch zwischen Studierenden der drei Vertiefungen Curatorial Studies, Kulturpublizistik und Kunstpädagogik hat die Diskussionen inhaltlich bereichert.
Der Bericht zur Studienreise kann als PDF (siehe unten) heruntergeladen werden. Im Bericht werden die einzelnen Tage zusammengefasst. Die Vielstimmigkeit der Eindrücke wird anschliessend von den teilnehmenden Studierenden anhand von Fotos und Kurztexten über einzelne Kunstwerke, Objekte oder Ausstellungssituationen sichtbar gemacht.

The inspiration for the piece came from certain feelings, images and visions that I had from my own personal inner search processes. Together with the dancers, we embarked on a short and intense journey to capture and embody those feelings and visions. In the midst of it all, we found inspiration, communal-power, solitude, struggle and magic.

Biomorphil is a piece of expanded choreography. It’s inspired by symbiotic social structures we find in nature like coral reefs or forests. In order to survive, all their tiny bits are in constant movement and interaction with each other. Together with a team of 7 artists of various disciplines, we created our own little ecosystem that consists of humans, textile, portable loudspeakers and moving lights. Biomorphil is a transdiciplinary creature with it’s own life, it’s own logic and it’s own movements than you get to enjoy will all of your your senses.

- The courage to change
BA Project by Alessio Russo
My graduate project is titled "The Courage to Change" and its main purpose is to go against all sorts of psychological bullying that leads the most sensitive people to not believe in themselves, and therefore have more difficulty understanding their role in the world. So the themes I deal with are the need for self-expression and the acceptance of our body and mind, topics that are similar in my thesis.
When I decided to devise a small film to represent this topical, I thought a lot about what images the outside audience might remember in order for my work to serve something greater. In this film I portray myself as the embodiment of any twenty-one year old boy, living a silent day lost in thought, until he looks in front of the mirror and sees imprinted on himself all the words that other people have said with the goal of hurting him. Through this video narration I wrote a monologue and recorded my voice so that the viewer would be guided by my words to better understand the meaning of what he would have seen, and thus metabolize it.
Towards the middle of the film there is a transition that completely reverses the scenario, at that moment I represent another topic taken from my thesis and of personal interest: Boylesque, which is a discipline that was born after the evolution of dance, and obviously takes its origin from Burlesque but taking as protagonist the male gender. This choice was purely subjective and certainly daring because of the costumes and images that were recorded, but my goal was to leave an imprint with a dance style that is not often mentioned because it is considered a niche. "The courage to change" is a hymn to mutual respect and support between human beings, and also a voice of comfort for all the people who have suffered like me who need to feel less alone. In this film I lay bare my body, my soul and my thoughts that are expressed by movements, images and words and I hope that the audience will be able to perceive it too. I wanted to give my university career a respectful closure, dealing with human reflections and at the same time with what as brought me this far: Dance.

Opposites create balance, one doesn’t have meaning without the other, like shadow doesn’t exist without light.

- I created my Bachelor project parallel to my thesis in fact both have oppositions and human duality as their subject. I analyzed the role of oppositions in the world of dance from a technical and personal point of view and reported the knowledge gained in my project. In the video I dance together with another dancer who has a quality of movement opposite to mine to emphasize the duality and I decided to film in two completely opposite scenarios, in the middle of nature and in an industrial area, using lighting that would accentuate the contrast. Oppositions in performances are elements that avoid monotony and constitute the dynamics of the show.
