Description	1888 unternimmt Prinzessin Therese von Bayern eine viermonatige Expedition nach Brasilien, um Pflanzen, Tiere und Insekten für ihre Studien zu sammeln. Sie ist inkognito unterwegs und wird von einem Offizier und einer Hofdame begleitet. Sie sind auf der letzten Etappe ihrer Reise nach Rio de Janeiro, wenn der geplante Zug jedoch nicht ankommt, wird ein lokaler Führer, José Augusto, beauftragt, um sie durch den Dschungel zurück zu ihrem Schiff zu bringen, wenn sie starkem Tropenregen und einer unerwarteten Krankheit ausgesetzt sind, was zu einem plötzlichen Planwechsel führt.
