Beschreibung | - The initial motivation for working in photography was to better understand my surroundings. However, in a society saturated with images, our perception is increasingly shaped by photographic devices rather than direct sensory experience. These devices and imaging processes, though often unnoticed, significantly impact how we perceive the world. This realization led me to focus my work on the filter of perception: the photographic apparatus. The goal of my master thesis is to critically reflect on the production of photographic images. This is addressed in the project through an analysis of the contemporary theoretical context, the applied development of a photographic apparatus for multi-dimensional sampling (Splicer), reflective artistic works emerging from this development and the development of a collaborative format coined Conversations exploring Splicer as both a tool and a discursive framework. The current state of the project is published as an online project documentation on documentation.splicer.camera and will additionally be presented as an exhibition format in a self-organized group show in ZHdK Kunstraum from 5.7. - 7.7.
