- Die Zeit scheint für Eva abrupt still zu stehen, als ihr Sohn David vermisst wird. In der Leichenhalle sieht sie sich mit dem Körper ihres toten Kindes konfrontiert. Die Tatsache, dass David Suizid begangen hat, geht an Eva vorbei. Vielmehr beschäftigt sie das Loch in Davids Schädel. Für ihren Partner und die Angehörigen scheint der Fall nun geklärt, doch Eva, innerlich zerrissen, macht sich auf den Weg zum Freund ihres Sohnes. Sie konfrontiert ihn mit der Situation und will mehr über die Umstände erfahren. Dabei erkennt sie bei ihrer Suche, dass sie nicht alleine mit ihrem Schmerz ist.

- Die Sonne glimmt über dem heissen Asphalt. Im Zugwagon fällt die Klimaanlage aus, am Fluss konkurrenzieren sich Bluetooth-Boxen und in der Innenstadt lässt ein Demonstrationszug die Trams stillstehen. Ein Paar verkriecht sich in die Ventilatoren-gekühlte Zweisamkeit, eine Familie flüchtet in die Idylle der Natur und eine Gruppe von Polizeibeamten verschmachtet im Kastenwagen. Während das Eis schmilzt und sich die Gemüter erhitzen, sieht niemand, dass das Wasser schon bis zum Hals steht.

- Manuela erlebt auf dem Geburtstag ihrer Freundin Vanessa eine unvergessliche Nacht, als sie sich von ihr zu einer Menage-a-trois überreden lässt. Vanessas Freund verliebt sich aber in Manuela, so folgt eine von Eifersucht getriebene Funkstille. Nach einem monatelangen Streit versöhnt sich Manuela mit Vanessa wieder, um ihr ungeborenes Kind großzuziehen. Manuela beschließt ihr beizustehen, verfängt sich aber in einem Netz von Intrigen, die sie vor ein neues Schicksal stellen.

- In ‘The Muppet Show’, Kermit the Frog walks through the forest singing ‘Bein’ Green’. While singing the ‘so many other ordinary things’ part of the song, Kermit looks around. He seems to empathise with the life of the surrounding plants: their greenness. How do we treat green beings? How might green beings think of themselves and their place in this world?
Over twenty years ago, biology educators coined the term ‘plant blindness’ to describe people’s inability to recognise and even notice plants in their environment. They argued that plant blindness causes people to underestimate the aesthetic and ecological importance of plants, which are often viewed as inferior to, and certainly less interesting than, animals. This issue is still prevalent, as other biologists and educators have recently pointed to the continuing need to replace outdated narratives that render plants as passive organisms while integrating modern scientific discoveries on plant behaviours and sensory systems. It was also emphasised that if we are to develop solutions to the urgent environmental crisis, it is essential that we position plants at the centre of the sustainability debate, overcoming human insensitivity to plants. ‘It’s Not Easy Bein’ Green’ seeks to do just that by challenging and restructuring how we engage with plants.

- «Archäologie der konsequenten Formen» ergründet, wie die Schriftdesigndisziplin Modelle der künstlichen Intelligenz nutzen kann, insbesondere deren Fähigkeit, Muster und Tendenzen zu erkennen und verstehen. Diese Fähigkeit ermöglicht neue Einblicke in die historischen Standards sowie eine Projektion der möglichen Konsequenzen für die Entwicklung der Schriftgestaltung. Allerdings steht diese Technologie noch am Anfang. Menschen müssen die Ergebnisse deshalb kuratieren – das heisst, die Störgeräusche in der «Intention» der Maschine herauslesen, weiter «graben» und die wahre Form des Artefakts freilegen.

- Ein Warteraum in einem Krankenhaus, Nachts. Zwei Fremde treffen aufeinander. Der eine bangt nach einem Autounfall um das Leben seiner Tochter. Der andere, ein junger, schwerkranker Patient kann nicht mehr schlafen. «Das Schlimmste kommt noch. Warten, bis der Tag anbricht», beginnt der Kranke das Gespräch. Dies ist der Anfang einer ungewöhnlichen Begegnung von zwei Männern in unterschiedlichen Ausnahmesituationen. Ein Wechselspiel zwischen Distanz, Angst und Resignation, sowie dem Bedürfnis nach Nähe. Eine einmalige Verbindung innerhalb einer Nacht.

Evaluation der Rolle von Musiktherapie in psychiatrischen Kliniken der deutschsprachigen Schweiz

- Ausgangslage: Mehr als 66'000 Patienten werden jährlich in psychiatrischen Kliniken der Schweiz hospitalisiert und sollten ein vielseitiges und qualitativ hochstehendes Behand-lungsangebot erhalten, welches aktuell noch häufig ohne Musiktherapie auskommt. Ziele: Diese Befragung hatte zum Ziel den Stellenwert der Musiktherapie in psychiatri-schen Kliniken der deutschsprachigen Schweiz, sowie die Arbeitsbedingungen und die Arbeitszufriedenheit von Musiktherapeuten, die in diesem Setting arbeiten, zu erheben. Methoden: Für die Befragung wurden Online-Fragebogen erstellt und an deutschspra-chige psychiatrische Kliniken, sowie an Musiktherapeuten in der Schweiz versendet. Ergebnisse: 377 Mitarbeitende (repräsentative Stichprobe) aus 15 psychiatrischen Klini-ken, sowie 22 Musiktherapeuten nahmen an der Befragung teil. Es zeigte sich eine hohe Wertschätzung der Musiktherapie, sowie eine eher hohe Arbeitszufriedenheit und eine geringe Lohn-Zufriedenheit bei den Musiktherapeuten. Schlussfolgerungen: Diese Daten wurden erstmalig in der Schweiz erhoben und sollen zum Anstoss vergleichbarer Untersuchungen führen und die Diskussion zu übergreifen-den berufspolitischen Themen anregen. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wurden Ziele und Massnahmen definiert, die in Zukunft angegangen werden müssen.

- Much has been speculated about the ambiguity of artworks and their potential to weave themselves into different horizons of meaning. The present card game takes this observation seriously. It gives voice to the concepts, forces, actors, artefacts and happenings that have been operating around the Wind Tunnel by Florian Dombois and his research group at the Zurich University of the Arts since 2012, and focuses on their still open potentials. Each card is a space of possibility and each card constellation its multiplication, which transforms into a here and now in the act of play, in your hands.

- In Alltagssprache und Designpraxis werden Objekte gelegentlich als aktiv handelnd bezeichnet, z.B. wenn davon die Rede ist, dass eine Yogamatte zum Absolvieren des Sportprogramms ermahnt. Der sozialwissenschaftliche Ansatz der Akteur-Netzwerk-Theorie/ANT analysiert diesen «stillen Zwang» der Dinge. Er geht davon aus, dass Artefakte ebenso handlungsfähig und gesellschaftlich wirksam sind wie menschliche Akteure. Somit erhält die Tätigkeit von Designer:innen einen höheren Stellenwert, denn die Beschaffenheit der Dinge fördert, verändert oder unterbricht gesellschaftliche Relationen. Die Masterthesis von Franka Grosse setzt sich mit der Frage auseinander, welche Folgen die Perspektive der ANT für das Design hat. Gibt es eine «Grammatik der Handlungen» (Yaneva, 2012), die den Dingen eingeschrieben ist? Und sollte diese stärker berücksichtigt werden, damit Designer:innen die Macht der Dinge nicht entgleitet und sie die Dinge gesellschaftlich sinnvoll gestalten?

- BIOGRAPHY
Maria Combi, B.1998, Italy. My whole life I’ve been dancing. At first ballet, which accompanied me until I turned 20 and graduated in London. Then I dedicated myself fully to contemporary dance, learning different styles in different countries and shortly freelancing in Belgium and Italy, before landing in Zurich in 2021.
Here I started my Master at ZHdK, where I’ve had the opportunity to explore and find my voice as a choreographer.
DIPLOMA PROJECT
ALI DI CENERE - If you never see me, do I still exist?
I wonder, if she would feel as soft as she looked.
Forbidden Softness… If you touch her, she dies.
It was important to me, as the choreographer, that this piece conveyed a feeling of care and safety on stage, embodied by the performers in their sisterhood. These four creatures explore through metamorphosis, what it means to perceive and to be perceived.
Seeing and being seen.
The scenography, as well as costumes, lights and the music we composed for it, all come together with the dance to create a space, where this elemental journey can occur.
