Die Gewaltbilder des Islamischen Staates (IS), welche seit 2014 omnipräsent sind, finden ihren Weg zu uns nicht nur über traditionelle, publizistische Medien, sondern vermehrt auch über das Internet. Die Bilder involvieren uns, ohne das wir unmittelbar betroffen sind. Gesucht sind Strategien, wie wir mit dieser neuen Herausforderung umgehen können. Als Privatperson wie auch als Kunstpädagogin sehe ich hier eine besondere Dringlichkeit. In meiner Masterarbeit mache ich mich deshalb auf eine Spurensuche. Anhand verschiedener theoretischer Positionen, unter anderem aus der Kultur- und Medienwissenschaft, der Kunst und der Kunstpädagogik und dem Werk "Ur-Collage" von Thomas Hirschhorn versuche ich ein Verständnis für Gewaltbilder und Bildgewalt aufzubauen, um daraus Erkenntnisse für einen möglichen Umgang zu gewinnen. Aufgrund der Aktualität bezieht sich meine Arbeit immer wieder auf die Bilder des IS, insbesondere auf die Enthauptungsvideos aus dem Jahre 2014.
The images of violence from the Islamic State (IS), which have been omnipresent since 2014, find their way to us not only via the conventional press media, but increasingly via the internet. These images draw us in, even though we are not directly affected. This study tries to find strategies for dealing with this new challenge. I see this as a matter of special urgency, both as a private individual and as an art teacher. In my Master's thesis, I therefore embark on a search for tracks and traces. Using a range of theoretical positions, drawn from sources including cultural and media studies, art and art teaching, and the work "Ur-Collage" (Primal collage) by Thomas Hirschhorn, I try to form an understanding of images of violence and the violence of images, in search of new insights towards a possible coping strategy. In the light of current events, my thesis continually refers to IS images, particularly the beheading videos from 2014.
