- Lost in translation? Ob die Vermutung durch das surrealistische Klangbild des
«electric string quartet», durch die Partitur als optisch kommunizierende Stütze
zur Interpretation, oder durch Aufzählungen in Deutsch, Französisch, Ungarisch,
Russisch, Suahili und Japanisch während des Quartetts bestätigt wird, kommt im
Z-Modul «Black Angels» zur Sprache. Ob universelle Elemente wie Gut und Böse,
nummerologische Symbolik und die Transformation des Geistes die Übersetzung
mehr Klarheit verschafft, wird auch überlegt werden. Das Streichquartett «Black
Angels – thirteen images from the dark land» (1970 – in tempore belli) von George
Crumb fasziniert seit fast vier Dekaden. In einem Z-Modul in der 7. Kalenderwoche
2009 beschäftigen sich Bachelor-Studierende aus allen Departementen der ZHdK mit
dem Werk und mit der Produktion einer DVD des Werkes für die ZHdK-Records.
Zusammengefasst: Das «electric string quartet» Black Angels wird erlebt, musikalisch
und historisch behandelt und durch die Produktion der Bild- und Tonspuren
im Kontext der Problematik Ton und Bild begleitet.

- In diesem Kurs sollen die Musik und die Bewegung zusammen entstehen, sollen
zusammen wachsen und sich in ihrer Wechselwirkung entfalten. Ziel ist die
Erarbeitung eines «Showings» am Ende der Woche. Der Lerninhalt wird an den
Vorbereitungstagen gemeinsam festgelegt.

- Lachen der vorbeigehenden Studierenden. Ein Linienmuster am Boden. Glas, Durchsichten, Spiegelungen. Ping-Pong; Geräusche aus dem nahen Industriequartier. Eine Lifttür, die sich öffnet.
Installative Arbeiten mit Klang und Bild nehmen akustische, visuelle und atmosphärische Charakteristiken eines Standorts auf und thematisieren das Zusammenspiel der Sinne. Sie basieren stark auf allgemeinen Wahrnehmungsaspekten; die üblicherweise angenommene Autonomie von Bild und Ton verschmilzt, wenn die Sinnesbereiche sich verbinden, und es treten besondere Aspekte hervor.
Die verschiedenartige Ausrichtung unserer beruflichen Aktivitäten - Dozentin für Theorie der Gestaltung und Kunst (Sprenger) sowie Musiker/Komponist und Künstler (Peter) - soll explizit in Wochengestaltung einfliessen:
Die erste Hälfte der Woche dient Experimenten und Übungen zu Wahrnehmung und Intervention, dem genauen Beobachten und Beschreiben von akustischen und visuellen Ereignissen, dem Kennenlernen von Werken aus Vergangenheit und Gegenwart (u. a. von Alvin Lucier, Christina Kubisch, Jenny Cardiff, John Cage, Max Neuhaus, Vlatka Horvat, Streuli/Gallio, Rüegg/Heyer).
In der zweiten, praktischen Wochenhälfte erarbeiten die TeilnehmerInnen in Gruppen kleine Projekte, bildnerisch/akustische Kompositionen mit installativem Charakter. Umweltelemente des gewählten Raumes werden zum Ausgangsmaterial. Interaktion ist mitgedacht und wird im Rahmen des technisch Bewältigbaren berücksichtigt.
