A documentary film about two women who go to Iran to examine their own prejudices on life in the Middle East – prejudices based on ignorance and often one-sided press reports that mask and veil the realities of the situation.
The film focuses on their personal experiences in a land where all women – including tourists – have to wear the veil. How do they cope with this? What sort of women do they meet? What is their experience of a state that is supposedly governed by censorship and surveillance?
Their journey from end to end of the country brings the women into contact with fascinating people, unknown places, and the realization that raising the veil will be more than a trivial act, accomplished from one day to the next.
