Mein ursprünglicher Motor war es die gezügelte, sinnliche, orientalische Kultur die sich heimlich hinter den Vorhängen abspielt ans Licht zu bringen, genau genommen unter das Discolicht zu stellen. Ich finde der Orient ist nach wie vor in der Popkultur noch nicht genug bearbeitet und das stachelt mich an. Unter dem Orientteppich liegende Geheimnisse hervorzukramen und Zugänge für jedermann zu schaffen. Gerade brisantere Themen können meiner Meinung nach durch ein ausgeklügeltes Art-Pop Projekt ganz anders bearbeitet und verhandelt werden. Das inhaltliche Feld indem ich mich demnach bewege ist die Popkultur in Verbindung mit dem Orient.
My original motivation was to shed light – a disco light, to be precise – on the restrained, sensuality of oriental culture, which secretly unfolds behind curtains. I feel that the Orient is still not sufficiently addressed in pop culture, and that spurs me on to uncover the secrets lying beneath the oriental carpet, so to speak, and make it accessible to everyone. I think that particularly explosive issues can be addressed and dealt with in a completely different way through an elaborate art pop project. So my own particular field is all about pop culture and its associations with the Orient.
