Die Maus Nero lebt bei Lisa im Zimmer, im Stall neben dem Haus wohnen die Hühner Trick und Frida. Ihr Alltag wird von den Menschen bestimmt, genauso wie der vieler anderer Tiere: Die Hündin Taya wird frisiert, die Kuh 2831 wird gefüttert, die Katze Lucy wird gestreichelt, die Tiger und Affen im Zoo werden beobachtet, das Schwein Rosalie wird auf einem Lebenshof beheimatet und das Muni-Kalb Maresciallo wird geschlachtet. Die Maus Nero und das Huhn Trick werden langsam alt und sterben. Trick wird zur Kadaversammelstelle gebracht und Nero bekommt ein kleines Grab im Garten.
The mouse Nero lives in Lisas room, the chickens Trick and Frida live in the barn next to the house. Their everyday life is determined by humans, just like that of many other animals: the dog Taya is coiffed, the cow 2831 is fed, the cat Lucy is stroked, the tigers and monkeys in the zoo are watched, the pig Rosalie is given a home on a life farm and the calf Maresciallo is slaughtered. The mouse Nero and the chicken Trick slowly grow old and die. Trick is taken to the carcass collection centre and Nero gets a small grave in the garden.
