With the Bachelor of Arts in Contemporary Dance the dancer of today is qualified to be an active and integrated member of society and member of the dance world on an international level of recognition. It is the total person who is interesting in today’s world of dance.
It is also a protection and advantage for the dancer who in later years wishes to return to the education world for further studies and/or for the dancer who may become injured and needs to pursue a re-education.
BACD students bring with them a work attitude and ethic which is very positive.
Their ability to integrate into a dance company and be a strong team member is excellent and their understanding of the creative work process is more developed.
This development at the University level solidifies the intellectual, artistic, social and educational process. It is not only the physical training but also the exposure to qualified international choreographers and teachers who are integral parts of the creative research to build a solid young dancer capable of communicating and expressing his or her thoughts.
The most challenging and inspiring part of being a teacher in the program is to encourage trust and courage in the students as they search for their artistic independence and growth as dancers and as human beings.
The development of technique and artistry is an on-going process that is continually filling their toolbox of skills. The richness of the BACD Program provides a wealth of opportunities and possibilities waiting to be discovered.
