My Bachelor project is called inbetween. It is a short video based on a quote by Israeli choreographer Ohad Naharin: “When you dance you should not be looking at your own reflection, you should be looking at the world.” I aim to explore dancers’ relationships with the mirror and the potential effects it has on us. In the video, I am dancing outside, filmed mainly through the reflection of a mirror - creating an illusion of being somewhere in between reality and reflection.
My name is Sophie Feige, I am 22 years old and from Germany. I started dancing at a local gym when I was very young, and it has been a part of my life ever since. When I was 16 years old, I moved to Essen to attend vocational ballet school. There, I was introduced to contemporary dance and discovered it was what I wanted to pursue after my graduation. So, I auditioned for Zurich University of the Arts’ Contemporary Dance program and joined in 2017. This past season, I spent my internship year with SALLY Dansgezelschap Maastricht and DART Dance Company Berlin.
