In my project, I traced the long history of ballet and its different schools and traditions, focusing on two of the most prominent ballet techniques, The French and the Russian Vaganova, observing both their technique and methods of teaching which resulted in their distinguishing specialities, e.g., the Allegro. The project indicates the significance and the effect of the carefully developed stages of classical ballet training. The video shows a glimpse of how every detail of dance education, however minute, can influence the dancer’s technical accomplishment as a whole.

After fifteen years of ballet training, first in my hometown, Bangkok, and later at The Australian Ballet School, Melbourne, I spent fifteen years performing with the Ballet Zurich, working with some of the world’s most renowned choreographers. Dance teaching has been my passion since I was first asked for assistance at the age of fifteen. This master program has offered me the opportunity to explore, in depth, both the advantages and the deficiencies of the current ballet education in the hope of redefining it in accordance with the technical standard required from professional dancers today.
