Beschreibung	Durch das Marmarameer und die Marmara-Insel erforscht «Possibility of an Island» die Zerbrechlichkeit und die Überschneidung zwischen drei verschiedenen, aber verwandten Körpern: Mensch, Insel und Wasser. Durch Poesie und Fotografie und durch das Nachdenken über diese Körper und ihre Verbindungen verschwimmen die Grenzen zwischen Mensch und Natur allmählich. Das Marmarameer, an dessen Küste Ani Ekin Özdemir aufgewachsen ist, empfindet die Künstlerin als Teil ihrer Familie. Ein Gewässer, das sie gelehrt hat einzuladen, zu umarmen, zu sein, in Beziehung zu treten, zu fliessen und zu schwanken. Durch die enge Beziehung zum Marmarameer hinterfragt Ekin die Position und die Definition des menschlichen Körpers: Wie verschieben sich Beziehungen – wie verändern sie sich, wenn wir beginnen, unseren Körper als Wasserkörper wahrzunehmen? Wie beeinflusst die Wahrnehmung des physischen Körpers unsere Gedanken und unsere Art, in dieser Welt zu leben? Letztlich vermag die Poesie nicht, das Meer zu reinigen oder die Regierung und ihre Prioritäten zu ändern. Aber sie wird die Dinge zusammenhalten und uns daran erinnern, was wichtig ist.
Beschreibung auf englisch	Through the media of the Sea of Marmara and Marmara Island, “Possibility of an Island” explores the fragility and intersection between three different but related bodies: human-island-water. Poetry and photography gradually blur the distinction between human and nature by encouraging us to think about these bodies and their connections. The Sea of Marmara, where I grew up on the coast, is part of the above family . It is a body of water that taught me to invite, embrace, be, relate, flow and fluctuate. Through this close relationship with the Sea of Marmara, I question the position and definition of the human body. How do relationships shift and re/shape when we begin to perceive our body as a body of water? How does the perception of the physical body affect our thoughts and way of being in this world? In the end, poetry is not going to clean the sea or change the government and its priorities. However, it will hold things together and remind us of what matters.
