Während das Selbstverständnis von Kunstvermittler_innen sich unter anderem mit dem wandelnden Kunstverständnis verändert und abgleicht, bleiben institutionelle Strukturen oft hartnäckig und langfristig dieselben. Mit diesen Vorgaben einerseits und den „unpresentable processes“ von Kunsterziehung andererseits gilt es immer wieder umzugehen.
Dabei verändern sich nicht nur die Kunstverständnisse und die Lehrer_innen, auch die Formen des Unterrichtens, die Bedingungen und Formate, in welchen eine künstlerische Bildung gedacht und praktiziert wird, nehmen andere Konturen an. So ist mitunter die künstlerische Praxis eine edukatorische, das Vermittlungsfeld die Galerie, die Methode kollaborativ, das Endprodukt unvorhersehbar und vielleicht auch unsag- und unzeigbar.
Art Education weitet sich somit aus als Praxis, welche vom BG-Unterricht bis zur selbstorganisierten Lecture-Reihe, von der Gründung eines Kulturvereins bis hin zur kollaborativen Produktion gedacht und umgesetzt wird. Die damit einhergehenden Verschiebungen der Rollenverständnisse von Künstler_innen und Lehrer_innen ist dabei nur eines der Themen, welches uns umtreibt.
Wie verhält sich das „Eigene“ zum „Kollektiven“? Wie wird zusammengearbeitet, im Schulzimmer, als Künstler_innenkollektiv, und als Künstler_innenkollektiv im Schulzimmer? Wie geht man mit dem Unspektakulären, Kompromissvollen um, welches edukatorische Prozesse begleitet?
Diese Grenzbereiche zwischen Kunst und Education sind Teil der Erkundungen und Erforschungen der hier gezeigten Arbeiten.

Art educators' perceptions of themselves and their role are changing, along with changing perceptions of the role of art itself – yet institutional structures tend to obdurately remain the same. This situation, and the "unpresentable processes" of art education, are challenges that have to be constantly readdressed.
Change processes do not just affect our understanding of art and teachers – the forms in which the subject is taught, and the conditions and formats in which art education is conceived and practised also take on new contours with the passage of time. So, at times, the art practitioner may become an educator, the education context may become a gallery, the method may become a collaborative one, and the final product may become unpredictable, and perhaps even "unspeakable" and "unpresentable".
An opening-out process is therefore taking place in art education, in the way in which it is conceived and realized: from classroom lessons in fine arts to a self-organized series of lectures, and from setting up a cultural association to collaborative production. The shifts this brings in the ways artists and teachers see their roles is just one of our key topics.
How do we as individuals relate to the collective? How do we collaborate in the classroom as an artists' collective, and specifically as an artists' collective in the classroom? How do we engage with the unspectacular, compromise-laden aspects associated with educational processes?
These are the issues explored and investigated in the works presented here.
